The Royal Family - Ismael Rodriguez
Years of Service: 31+ Years
Ismael has a unique claim to fame as Windsor Court’s very first employee. He actually came to be employed at the hotel before Windsor Court even had its name!
Starting in the late 1970’s, Ismael’s wife worked for the hotel’s original founder, Mr. James J. Coleman, Jr. Through this relationship, Ismael came to know the Coleman family, so it was only natural for Mr. Coleman to choose someone he trusted to overlook the warehouse where the equipment and materials were being stored for the hotel’s construction.
Once at the hotel, Ismael became the Stewarding Supervisor for four years, after which he worked in banquets and then ultimately moved on to his current home in housekeeping. He loves that he has had the opportunity to explore all of those different departments.
A family man through and through, Ismael emphatically states that spending time with his family is the most important thing in the world. In particular, he loves spending time with his two granddaughters, Lorissa, 14, and Lynnette, 6. He enjoys taking them on bike rides and being able to pick them up from school and take them to get ice cream.
Favorite Windsor Court Moment
Ismael has many favorite moments, including when Mr. Coleman asked Ismael and his wife to hunker down with him at his residence during the devastation of Hurricane Katrina; however, his most cherished moment was in the early years of the hotel over New Year’s Eve. At midnight, Mr. Coleman would walk around to every department and give a champagne toast to bring in the New Year! Windsor Court has a storied history of celebrating its employees and creating a family atmosphere and Mr. Coleman created that culture right from the start.
