The Royal Family - Karen Rogers
Position: Suite Service Server
Years of Service: 23 Years
In 1991, Karen Rogers was determined to get her foot in the door as an employee at Windsor Court. She joined the staff as a housekeeper, but with a background in food service and many years as a waitress under her belt, she jumped at the chance to transition to a suite service position when the opportunity arose five years later.
A typical day for Karen starts at 5 a.m., and she stays busy preparing and delivering food orders to guestrooms, ensuring that each guest’s needs are met in a timely manner. Always eager to step in and help others, she also takes the initiative to answer suite service calls and take orders when necessary. Karen is passionate about her work, and she’s consistently pushing herself to learn more about food quality and guest preferences. This ongoing dedication, combined with her warm personality, energetic character and willingness to help, underpin Karen’s role as an esteemed member of the Windsor Court team.
She considers the hotel her home away from home, and her colleagues are a second family. Although Karen has had the privilege of working with a variety of people throughout her tenure, the team’s collaborative nature never fails to make her smile. In her role as a trainer, she applauds her coworkers’ welcoming nature and positive attitudes as some of the job’s greatest rewards.
A New Orleans native, Karen says that her work doesn’t stop when she leaves the hotel. As a busy wife and mother, she works hard to keep her house in order and help her three adult sons as much as possible. When she does finally get some down time, Karen enjoys going out on date nights with her husband of 11 years.
Favorite Windsor Court Moment
Karen loves her job and her colleagues, and her pride in her work is undeniable. Every day at Windsor Court is a reward, and her beloved memories at the hotel are innumerable.
While she’ll never forget the second line celebration when Windsor Court was named Best Hotel in the World by Condé Nast readers in 1998, she also cherishes a chance encounter with Steven Seagal in the late 1990s. Like many of her coworkers, Karen is no stranger to the multitude of celebrity guests who stay at the hotel. However, as a huge fan of the legendary action hero, sharing an elevator and meeting him in person remains at the top of her all-time favorite moments at Windsor Court.
