The Royal Family - To Tran
Years of Service: 31+ Years
‘Mr. To’, as he is affectionately called by his fellow associates, is one of the five original Windsor Court employees. He relocated from Vietnam to the United States in order to find a better life for his family. He initially moved to Biloxi, Mississippi with his brother, sister and daughter until he ultimately settled into his home in New Orleans.
While he first worked at Schwegmann’s Supermarket, Mr. To had heard about the Windsor Court from a friend and decided to apply hoping for an even better opportunity than what he had. Mr. To was hired on March 9, 1984, at first to clean the kitchen and then moved to the pot washing area where he has stayed ever since.
Always with a smile on his face, he states, “I have worked my entire life at the Windsor Court and have been very happy.”
When not hard at work at Windsor Court, you can find Mr. To tending to his garden at home where he finds solace in the art of pruning and enjoys watching his plants grow.
Favorite Windsor Court Moment
Mr. To considers all that he works with as his family. It is what he enjoys most about his job, so it is only natural that one of his favorite moments was when the hotel started bringing the employees back after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. He was in the first group asked to return and he truly enjoyed banding together with his fellow associates not only to assist the guests at the hotel, but to assist his fellow associates in rebuilding their homes together. He remembers the comradery at the time as ‘unbelievable’.
