Insider's Look at Upcoming New Orleans Attractions - Spring 2016
Cuisine, Cocktails and Commemorating Independence Day
Spring is already in full swing in New Orleans. Gorgeous weather abounds, and the subtle scent of night blooming jasmine wafts through the air. The Crescent City is just warming up, so it’s the ideal time to travel south and experience some of the city’s signature events.
If food is your focus but you’re looking for something a little different than the average restaurant experience, New Orleans holds the key to your happiness with NOWFE (New Orleans Wine and Food Experience), May 26-29. Currently in its 23rd year, the five-day festival spotlights the city's legendary restaurants along with more than 250 wineries from around the globe, attracting over 10,000 gourmands and connoisseurs to one of most incredible culinary experiences in the nation.
Windsor Court is thrilled to once again be a part of NOWFE. On May 26, The Grill Room is hosting a winemaker’s dinner with the renowned California vintner from Daou, and on May 28, the hotel’s catering service, CELEBRATE!, will be highlighted during the Grand Tasting. This event showcases more than 1,000 domestic and international vintages alongside culinary creations from New Orleans’ finest chefs and purveyors. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the winemakers, ask questions and taste appellations from across the globe.
For those seeking a more family-friendly experience, schedule your visit in July, when you can make the most out of your long weekend and commemorate Independence Day the right way during Go Fourth on the River. On Monday, July 4, secure your spot on the historic downtown riverfront to take part in a New Orleans tradition that happens just a few blocks away from the hotel. Featuring two dueling barges in one dazzling fireworks display over the Mississippi River, Go Fourth on the River is fun for the whole family.
Later in July, make it an adults-only getaway, and escape to New Orleans for the ultimate cocktail experience. Tales of the Cocktail, a weeklong festival scheduled July 19-24, unites elite professionals in mixology for cocktails, cuisine and culture. Windsor Court is once again joining in the festivities, hosting a Prohibition Tea in Le Salon July 22-23. At this spirited tea service, sip specialty cocktails from tea cups in true speakeasy fashion. Windsor Court Mixologist Kent Westmoreland presents a menu of cocktails paired perfectly with a menu of sweet and savory treats. With a three-course service including brunch-inspired bites, seasonal scones and decadent desserts, this unique event is truly not to be missed.
