Insider’s Look at Upcoming New Orleans Attractions - Fall Events

Fall is for Football and Foodies

The first day of fall is less than a month away, and as the leaves begin to change and the temperature begins to (ever-so-slowly) drop, New Orleanians turn their attention to two things: football and food. Weekend games and tailgating parties combined with fried chicken festivals and seafood celebrations make for a Southern season unlike any other.

From pre-season to playoffs, the Who Dat?! Nation is devoted to supporting the city’s beloved Saints. While the Mercedes-Benz Superdome is home to all the huddles and touchdowns, the endless array of downtown restaurants and bars means that no one is stuck on the sidelines during tailgating time. Looking to wind down after a big win? Polo Club Lounge offers small plates, classic cocktails, extensive beer and wine lists, and relaxed settings.

On October 1, sports fans will be bellying up to the bar a bit earlier than usual as the New Orleans Saints take on the Miami Dolphins across the pond at Wembley Stadium in London. Since there’s an early kickoff, The Grill Room breakfast specialties, like the Windsor Court Benedict, Crescent City Egg White Omelet and New Orleans French Toast, are perfect ways to start the day. Add a Mimosa, Bellini or Bloody Mary to make the meal a truly spirited celebration.

Not into football, but always have the next delicious meal in mind? Lucky for you, New Orleans is home to an ever-growing roster of food-focused events, many of which happen in the fall. A list of some of our upcoming favorites is below, so plan your next vacation with one of these culinary delights on the itinerary.
