Insider's Look At Upcoming New Orleans Attractions - Summer 2017
Step into Summer with Cocktails, Art Walks and Labor Day Getaways
School is out, vacations are scheduled, and New Orleans continues to thrive as a major summertime travel destination. With a central location, just steps from the French Quarter, exclusive seasonal rates, and an award-winning spa, Windsor Court is here to help you savor all that summer has to offer.
If you’re searching for some new concoctions to wet your whistle, then you won’t want to miss the world’s premier cocktail festival, Tales of the Cocktail, July 18-23. Master mixologists, cocktail enthusiasts, spirits celebrities and at-home bartenders will come together in the Crescent City for six days of seminars, tastings and networking events. For those who prefer to pair their cocktails with gastronomic delights, local restaurants will team up with favorite spirits brands to host a one-night-only series of Spirited Dinners on Thursday, July 20.
At The Grill Room at Windsor Court, guests will join Jonathan Pogash, aka The Cocktail Guru, for a feast inspired by American Jazz Greats. Cocktails named after legends like Ella Fitzgerald, Thelonius Monk and Miles Davis will be paired with five courses of culinary creations by Chef de Cuisine Gabriel Charpentier.
July is all about celebrating the creation of the cocktail, but August in New Orleans is dedicated to the city’s vast art scene. While Whitney White Linen Night has been a mainstay event for many years, Dirty Linen Night, which is only four years old, is quickly growing in popularity. Held the second Saturday of August, this Royal Street art stroll draws crowds to the galleries and shops along the famous French Quarter corridor. Dirty rice and dirty martinis are common giveaways, but the evening also includes an array of unique entertainment, from local musical groups and burlesque dancers to wandering clowns and street performers.
Although the city’s signature heat and humidity may last well beyond the official end of summer, Labor Day Weekend provides an excellent opportunity to say farewell to the season. Whether you want to get away for Southern Decadence, the annual celebration of LGBT culture that attracts people from all over the world, or simply have a weekend of relaxation and rejuvenation at our rooftop deck and saltwater pool, Windsor Court Hotel is the ideal destination for every end-of-summer escape.
